In this issue - Feature article - Why Exactly?
Feature Article Almost everyday, I practice my Easy Tai Chi and 4 Minute Fitness. I often ask myself why I keep doing it when I have an in-box full of emails, travel plans to make, and all the stuff of a busy life. Perhaps I'm just running - avoiding my work. But there seems to be more. Of course, the full body gentle movement, the deep breathing, the increased strength and flexibility, improved circulation and significantly reduced stress are all factors. But there is still more. I feel nourished in a way that is bigger than the sum total of the benefits I can list. This analogy explains it perfectly. Those few minutes each day in my life are like water to a seed. The seed can exist for years, but only grows and flourishes with water. My personal movement and motivation practices are the water in my life that produces sometimes profound growth, with results that are much bigger than the original seed. The mere fact that I do this helps me handle the "busyness" of life with greater flow and ease. Those few minutes of practice have become an oasis for me - an instant personal retreat, a calm within a storm, the eye of the hurricane - available any time, anywhere. There are many ways to find this peace. Many effective approaches. The key is to find one that works for you! I encourage you to take time each day in meditation, prayer, yoga, or the methods I teach. It doesn't have to be long - just a few minutes a day to nourish and center - and watch how your day improves. I am happy to answer any questions. I have a new toll free number. Call (866) 6 TAI CHI after 9 AM Pacific. That's (866) 682- 4244 www.easytaichi.com
Life Quote "Somewhere between the mask of being nice but invisible and the armor of being right but alone is the face of a man being truly honest, truly certain and truly loving." Duane O'Kane
"I appreciate your videotape method
against the mirror. I have been able to learn all the exercises very comfortably.
" "You truly are an inspiring
teacher and a great motivator. Sincere thanks."
Question Period Q I have a chronically injured right knee. How should I handle it? A Of course, always check with your health care provider! Do be careful with your right knee and modify moves to avoid pain in both 4 Minute Fitness and Easy Tai Chi. In Easy Tai Chi, you may need to reduce the 45 degree angle of your foot in the balanced stance when the right leg is back. Do not sink as low in Snake Creeps Down on the right side. And be careful with any squats in 4 Minute Fitness. And as you practice the 4th exercise, move your feet as needed to avoid pain. Listen to your body and don't do anything that causes sharp pain! Modify as needed.
Food Fact Fast food restaurants have created all sorts of "healthy" sounding alternatives to lure folks back into their establishments. In most cases (sadly) the new salads have more fat than the fries and the new vege burgers have more fat than the regular burgers. Don't be duped. Check out those "health foods" before eating them, or you might just kid yourself into the intensive care ward.
